Buhler, Pierre

Pierre has more than 20 years of experience working in financial services as both a line manager and a consultant in areas ranging from capital markets to retail banking to insurance. His areas of expertise include technology and operations, cost containment, strategic sourcing, large-scale outsourcing/off-shoring, post-merger rationalization, and organizational/business line restructuring.

Prior to joining AlixPartners, Pierre launched Alexander James Inc./Mitchell Madison Group in New York, an advisory firm specializing in business outsourcing. Before that, he was a partner with Deloitte Consulting and a Senior Vice President of Procurement and Corporate Services with Chase Manhattan Bank.

Examples of Pierre’s experience include:

  • Outsourced the technology platforms of a major global European bank in ten months
  • Closed the sale of a large US bank and performed post-merger projects
  • Optimized technology assets recovery and risk mitigation for a large, diversified financial institution
  • Developed and implemented procurement architecture, from requisition to payment, as Chief Procurement Officer at Chase Manhattan Bank
  • Developed cost reduction approaches in technology and operations, applied to 30+ financial organizations worldwide
  • Did several cost reduction projects in Japan and Hong Kong


Pierre holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Strasbourg, France.
