Bryan is a retail and consumer products expert who works with executive management teams and ownership sponsors to dramatically improve performance. He has worked across distribution channels including mass and department stores, specialty retailers, and branded soft goods wholesalers. His expertise includes designing and implementing strategic improvement in processes, organization, and technologies focused on the retail supply chain. He joined AlixPartners after 15 years at Kurt Salmon Associates in New York, where he was Vice President leading both the Product Development and Merchandising Technology practices.
Bryan’s client experience includes:
- Conducting rapid assessments of retail businesses to identify short and long term opportunities to reduce costs, optimize inventory levels and assortments, and achieve industry leading capabilities from design and development through to store operations.
- Improving IMU and reducing SG&A and working capital through dramatic reduction in overall cycle times from initial concept to the store shelf.
- Improving the maintained margin at retail by balancing the art and science of merchandising through assisting companies with embedding practical, actionable analytics into their pre-, in-, and post-season processes.
- Implementing large scale sustainable change in merchandising, product development, and distribution, impacting process, organization, and technology through hands-on mentoring and issue resolution
- Leading technology strategy development aimed at ensuring the tools support the business strategy.
Bryan holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and economics from the University of Virginia. He is a sought-after speaker and author on retail topics, and is a guest lecturer at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.
