AlixPartners welcomes back former SEC Enforcement Division Chief Accountant, Matt Jacques

NEW YORK, (March 15, 2022) - AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, today announced the return of Matt Jacques as a Managing Director in the firm’s Investigations, Disputes & Risk Practice. Matt brings more than two decades of experience as an auditor, forensic accountant, and regulator.

Matt served as the Chief Accountant of the Enforcement Division for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission from October 2018 to February 2022. As Chief Accountant, Matt was responsible for leading the Division’s enforcement program related to financial accounting, disclosure and auditing enforcement matters.  During that time, he participated in and advised on hundreds of matters involving not just financial reporting, but also asset misappropriation, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), market manipulation, insider trading, and other securities-related issues. Matt also participated in relevant rule-making for accounting, auditing and certain disclosure matters, and led the Division’s coordination with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board’s inspection and enforcement programs.

Matt first joined AlixPartners in 2013, assisting clients with technical accounting matters, investigations, and litigation matters. He conducted investigations and supported litigation across a wide array of subject matters, including financial accounting fraud, FCPA, anti-corruption matters, compliance, disclosure issues, auditor malpractice, corporate governance, insider trading, market manipulation, False Claims Act litigation and asset misappropriation. In 2018, Matt rejoined the SEC as Chief Accountant in the Division of Enforcement.

He first served in the Enforcement Division of the SEC from 2007 through 2013 as a staff accountant in the SEC’s Boston Regional Office. Matt began his career as an auditor and later as a forensic accountant at global public accounting firms. Matt received his degree in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.
