Stephen is a Partner & Managing Director in the eDiscovery practice at AlixPartners, and is based in Shanghai. Stephen has over 16 years of professional services experience in digital forensics, electronic discovery, managed review and litigation risks assessment.
Stephen works closely with his global Investigations, Compliance & Privacy colleagues to advise clients on regulatory investigations, disputes and other corporate fraud and white-collar crime matters. His clients are from a wide range of industries and geographies, and he is particularly known for assisting large US-listed Asian companies involved in cross-border regulatory issues.
Stephen graduated from the University of NSW in Australia. He is an Encase Certified Forensic Examiner (EnCE) and the first person to obtain the well-regarded Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification in Asia.
Key Engagements:
- Retained by a Cayman incorporated Chinese company and its offshore counsel to provide eDiscovery assistance and help the Company defend a s.238 shareholder litigation.
- Led an eDiscovery team and worked with four counsel teams across three regions to assist a BVI-incorporated Chinese company defending a shareholder litigation, helping the company secure a historic win.
- Assisted multiple counsel involved with defending or pursuing IP/Trade Secrets disputes in China for both MNCs and large Chinese technology companies in US legal jurisdiction.
- Retained by counsel on behalf of a Special Committee of the Board of Directors to perform an audit pertaining to short-seller allegations, which questioned the financial statements’ integrity of a Chinese company listed in US. Assisted in the analysis of sales, customer data and email review.
