For more than 20 years, Matt McCauley has supported global energy, chemicals, and industrial companies to realize step-change improvements in profitability and cash flow. Matt works closely with senior executive, board member, and investor stakeholders in a non-transactional way to focus squarely on his client’s agenda.
As Global Energy & Process Industries Practice Co-Leader, Matt’s experience in distressed and interim executive roles shaped his ability to develop practical, impactful solutions for healthy companies facing disruption. During commodity downturns, Matt has supported multiple oil and gas companies to develop and implement restructuring business plans. He also is a former Chief Operating Officer and industrial site leader in the Permian Basin. Through experiences across oil and gas, chemicals, utilities, and industrials, Matt has developed deep familiarity with manufacturing operations and organizational structures, which he has used to reset cost structures in sustainable ways.
More recently, Matt has been on the frontlines of helping energy and chemical companies to harness the power of digital technologies. He has supported multiple chemicals clients build digital twins of their end-to-end supply chains to deflect cost headwinds, accelerate cost tailwinds, optimize duty payments, and improve pricing decisions. He has also leveraged machine learning technologies to help companies improve financial forecasting, sales and operations planning, inventory management, and financial hedging programs.
A graduate of Yale College and Columbia Business School, Matt has deep familiarity with energy and chemical company cost structures, competitive landscapes, supply chains, contracts, and commodity indices.
