Maritza is the chief legal officer at AlixPartners, where she leads the firm’s legal, compliance, and risk functions. As a business and legal advisor, Maritza has an established track record of effective thought partnership with business stakeholders to drive strategy and operational results and navigate and effect transformative change.
She has over 20 years of experience spanning management consulting, global law firms, and Fortune 25 companies, and managing complex, high-stakes business and legal matters and transactions across the globe and multiple industries. Maritza also brings to bear significant capabilities in ESG and enterprise risk management.
Prior to joining AlixPartners in April 2022, Maritza served as divisional general counsel for Fannie Mae’s $400+ billion multifamily business. Prior to that, Maritza, was a partner at several global law firms, where she honed a broad transactional practice advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, corporate financings and restructurings, and cross-border transactions across a breadth of asset classes and regulated industries.
Maritza, who spent her formative years in Brazil and Nigeria, received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her law degree from Yale Law School. She serves on the Executive Council of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and the Yale Law School Executive Committee. Following law school, Maritza was a law clerk to the Honorable Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and to Justice Stephen G. Breyer of the U.S. Supreme Court.
