Colin has extensive experience within the healthcare industry, focusing primarily on the strategy and operations of hospitals and other acute & non-acute providers.

His experience also extends into healthcare turnaround and restructuring by working with debtors and lenders to advise on operational strategies to drive efficiency and successful emergence. His background includes leading the strategy and implementation of consolidated surgical services centers, strategic business units, and operational performance improvement opportunities within hospitals and other providers.

Clients benefit from Colin’s deep operational expertise in the areas of process design and execution, data analysis, operational planning, and financial modeling. He has prior experience in both consulting and industry, holding roles at Huron Consulting Group and Vanderbilt University Medical Center prior to joining AlixPartners.

  • Led the financial due diligence and creation of corporate governance structures for the formation of a new strategic venture company (a group purchasing organization) that manages $1.5 billion in transactional volume for a large, national health system with 50 hospitals & ASCs.
  • Led the clinic financial and operational turnaround for a 122 center Medicare Advantage operator during the chapter 11 process by driving consolidation and the execution of $53M savings.
  • Led operational diligence of core clinical & back-office functions of an Emergency Medicine and Anesthesia staffing firm for the fulcrum lenders during the largest healthcare ch. 11 restructuring in U.S history.
  • Developed financial and clinical strategies for a national 50-hospital acute-care provider’s post merger robotic surgery service line.
  • Provided a nonlabor operational assessment for a potential hospital acquisition by a regional nonprofit provider.
  • Led the development of a longitudinal financial strategy for a 31-member children’s hospital consortium that involved analysis and recommendation of operational synergies.
  • Supported a large academic medical center in the creation and integration of a $30 million off-site consolidated surgical services center that involved optimization initiatives within the perioperative environment, including procedure scheduling standardization, supply utilization improvement, and sterile-processing prioritization.
