Mario is a transformative technology leader, operator and investor with over 25 years of industry experience. He excels in scaling and transforming growth businesses and multi-billion-dollar operations globally.
Mario served as a Senior Advisor to AlixPartners before joining as a Partner & Managing Director in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice, contributing to the firm’s growth and value creation in these and the Private Equity sectors.
Previously, he was an Operating Partner and founding member of SoftBank’s Operating Group, where he partnered closely with CEOs, management teams and boards, and was instrumental in scaling, restructuring and exiting investments across a $150 billion portfolio.
Mario’s career includes senior executive roles with Microsoft, Expedia Group, and Xbox. He is known for his energetic and collaborative approach and for operating expertise across technology sectors, including software, e-commerce, B2B2C marketplaces, travel and hospitality, mobile, gaming, and online advertising. He started his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in New York.
Mario is also a seasoned board leader and a trusted advisor who has served Assurant Solutions, Gympass (now Wellhub), Loggi, OYO, Paack, Trax Retail, among others. He is past Chairman of North America of the Mobile Marketing Association and a member of the Young Presidents' Organization. He also leads Ribera Partners, investing in and supporting early-stage technology innovators.
Mario holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and two degrees from MIT. He is fluent in Spanish and English, with a working knowledge of Portuguese.
