The global manager of alternative investment products was constrained by an inflated cost base, what with the complexity of the business, the geographical spread of its operations, and a suboptimal organizational structure.
AlixPartners was brought in to advise on a strategy that rapidly addressed all of those issues. We were tasked with identifying opportunities to optimize the cost base, review the organizational structure and recommend improvements, and assess the IT landscape and highlight gaps in adoption of the right systems.
Ultimately, we helped the client with a 20 to 25% reduction in the in-scope operating expenditures baseline, closing more than half of the FRE margin gap to peers.
We also re-designed the organizational structure and operating model to support the company’s future growth strategy. Key to this vision, we set up a central procurement team to drive external spend opportunity.
