A global Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services provider had experienced a shift from reimbursable cost (RC) to lump sum turnkey (LSTK) projects, but retained estimating, engineering, and construction practices suitable for RC work. As a result, the EPC services provider experienced over $2 billion in project write-offs over a three year period.
AlixPartners was brought in to conduct a detailed analysis of the project development and execution process, from bidding through completion. We developed a comprehensive agenda for improving estimating, increasing engineering productivity, and improving field execution.
The client implemented the key recommendations on several large (>$5 billion) LSTK projects, targeting estimated $200 million in financial benefits.
